CheckThis is a website creation tool that lets users build standalone pages for many purposes. Users can choose between pages that “tell,” “sell,” “hire” or a custom page. The “tell” pages give users a place to share information or opinions. Users can add content and include links to share with others. The “sell” pages let users put something up for sale. The user can add a product title and image along with a price. The purchase now button is automatically added at the bottom of the page. The “hire” pages let users list a job title and description. Hire pages have a contact form built in so potential candidates can send a message to the user. The custom pages can include links, images, video clips, text and applications.Show more screenshots »
CheckThis was founded by Frederic della Faille in January of 2011. The application was designed to give users a simple way to build a small web page for a purpose, essentially a way to say “check this out” to internet users. Most users appreciate the convenient design and simple features, however this is the same reason why some users view CheckThis as a mediocre web page creation tool. The site does not include any elaborate templates or extra features to give users additional functionality and customization options.
Website design is by far not a new concept on the web. CheckThis takes this common concept and molds it into one of the simplest tools available. The application is unique because it gives users a barebones, no nonsense web page builder that provides the tools the user is most likely to need and nothing more. Sell pages include a buy button while the hiring page includes a contact form. The user doesn’t have to worry about coding or design and can get their content up and ready for browsing quickly.
CheckThis offers users one of the cleanest, most Spartan designs possible in a web page builder. The page features a dark header with large, square buttons that let the user toggle between page types. Each page is lightly colored and gives the user clear, basic instructions to help them through the page creation process. The application’s interface literally walks the user through the process based on the page type they select.
A new user can create a CheckThis account by clicking the dark grey “Sign In” button along the left hand side of the page (under the dark header). The next page includes a pink box with a “Create Your Profile” button. The box shifts to present the user with two blue buttons and a red button. The blue buttons let the user login with a Facebook or Twitter account and the red button is for Google accounts. Users must choose one to create an account.
CheckThis is available to all internet users for free. There are no subscription fees or other charges required to build any of the web page types offered. All users receive the same level of access to all features. Users are not required to make any purchases or commitments to keep their web pages up and accessible. The service is very simple, so charging a fee would require the addition of more features and design tools.
CheckThis is a good solution for users who need a very simple web page for a single purpose. Users can sell an item, post a job opening or create a page to share information, links, images or any other content. The design tools are very easy to use and include the bare minimum in terms of features and customization options. Users are given clear instructions on each page creation form, making CheckThis ideal for anyone with little to no website design experience.
